This position is responsible for managing and monitoring official university media accounts and covering assigned beat areas within the university for GVNext.
The social media specialist is responsible for interacting with the public and monitoring the public image of the university with online audiences.
Primary Duties:
Manages social media accounts and produces content for Grand Valley's Department of Public Safety and the office of the President Writes stories for GVNext, Forum, GV Magazine and other university publications as assigned Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Digital media skills; must be able to work well in an online environment Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite Writing and communication skills that allow for clear, organized and concise communication Familiar with Facebook, Twitter, Threads TikTok, Instagram and Linkedin Knowledge of social media related technologies and trends Social awareness Ability to navigate various social interactions with digital communication PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Minimum 1 year of experience managing social media accounts in a professional environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office environment.
Some travel may be required.
